Customer Review :
I would recommend this device for BMW owners : DICE Silverline DUO-100-BMW (BMW/Mini Trunk Connection)
Installed this in my wife's 2006 BMW X6 with no problems. Installation wasn't hard, just follow the instructions EXACTLY as the manual says, including disconnecting the battery BEFORE installation. Our X5 had an existing factory CD changer in the back. I disconnected the CD changer and connected the Duo to those wires. So yes, you can only use the Duo or CD changer, not both. Then, I configured the Duo as specificed in the manual, plugged in an iPod nano and was up and running. Install took less than 10mins. Hardest part was time it took to get to the battery beneath the spare tire.
Before using the Duo, I set the gain control to adjust the volume as needed. Navigating through songs isn't perfect. In fact, it's very time consuming. The 2 second delay when switching albums, artists, songs, etc. doesn't help. But hey, navigating through hundreds/thousands of songs isn't going to be quick on most devices. This device does all it said it would do. Sound quality is good, not CD quality, but good. Definitely better than radio. Only been using this for a few days so haven't experienced any bugs or issues yet. Time will tell. Also, I didn't bother running the wire to the front of the car. Didn't see the point since my wife could plug the iPod in the back of the car where the CD changer use to be and still access all her songs from the radio/steering wheel. I will however run the wire to the front into the center console if she wants to plug an iPhone into it.
Bottom line, if you want the ability to add an iPod to your stock radio, keep your steering wheel functionality and avoid spending hundreds on an aftermarket radio, then Duo is a great option. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because it's slow plus I can't seem to get it to display the full song/album title if the title is too long. I know you can activate the "scrolling" feature but I've done that and on some songs, the whole title won't scroll/display. Not sure if this is a system or Duo limitation but it didn't work for me.
